Cleaning Lady

Brooke loves to "help" around the house. When I am unloading the dishwasher she is constantly saying, "I hep, too". She will pick up spoons and various utensils and put them in which ever drawer she likes. She also likes to dust and fold laundry. Yesterday when Jason got back in town she picked up every single clothing item out of his suitcase and placed it into a laundry basket, reciting, "I heping" the entire time. Here are some pictures of her helping me clean yesterday. I'm not getting my hopes up that this will carry into the teenage years!

Sweeping the kitchen floor

Vacuuming the furniture

Carrying the sheets to the laundry room

Saturday Fun

Yesterday Brooke and I went to a first birthday party. She had fun playing with the other kids. They had a rocking horse there that I remember from when we were little. I think this one was a ' 75 model or so. She loved riding on it! I'm pretty sure it wouldn't meet safety standards these days! We then met Jason for dinner. The other picture is Brooke playing with the rocks while we waited. Luckily rocks are her favorite thing so she didn't mind the wait. When I went in to change her diaper I found three rocks tucked into her little hands. I guess she was saving them for later!

GO MIZZOU!

I got to go to my first tailgate and Mizzou football game this weekend. Grandma and Grandpa took me to the tailgate and then we went to the game. I loved watching Truman and clapping with all of the fans!

Thanks Aunt Jen!

My Aunt Jen knit me this beautiful blanket..you can see how much I love it! I kept laying down on it and saying "I sleep." Thanks Aunt Jen!

Catching up on some reading...

No, we are not potty training yet, but Brooke likes to talk about it, so the potty is there for interest only at this point. She did this on her own one day. Jason was getting her bath ready and she went and got the book and sat down!

Colors

Here is a video of Brooke saying her colors. You can see the concentration on her face as she is saying them. (She lost interest at yellow, that's why it cuts off!)

just when you thought she couldn't get any messier...

Sleeping In

Today was my day off work and I'll I wanted to do was sleep in a little (ie: 7:30 instead of 5:45). Brooke usually sleeps until about 7-7:30 when we don't have to wake her. Of course, today she woke up at 6:00 and wouldn't go back to sleep...until we put her in our bed. She was sound asleep in the picture above and stayed that way until 8:30! It was wonderful, but I'm not getting my hopes up on this happening again!

More Pasta Please!

I had pasta for lunch today. You can see it was quite a mess! In the video, you can here me say, "I want more pasta!" I don't like to talk for the camera so this was the best mom could do to catch me talking on camera.

Chatterbox

I have been improving my language skills for a while now, but it seems like in the past few days, I have just exploded. Here are a few examples:

- Today I started saying longer sentences (it used to be two words, ie: "daddy's shoes", "my juice")
Now I am saying things like: "I want bite too" (when mom is trying to eat her lunch)

-I was playing with my toy today that has four different color balls and I correctly identified each color (blue, red, yellow, orange). Although I needed a little help, I got it right most of the time! (Mommy tried to video this, but see story below...)

- Daddy watched football all day today. Tonight while watching the game, he yelled out "nothing" when MU blocked a field goal, and I repeated, "nuh-ting". Mom proceeded to warn daddy that he better watch what he says since I am a parrot now (because sometimes what he says to the football game is not always that nice). Meanwhile, a few minutes later, mommy was trying to video tape me with her camera and right before I said "yeh-yo", the battery died. Mommy said to daddy, "mommy sucks". And guess what I repeated: "mommy sucks!" Guess mommy better follow her own advice!

Once the camera is charged, mommy will try to get some video of me talking, but I usually clam up with the camera on.

Labor Day visit to St. Louis

I had a fun weekend in St. Louis this weekend. Here is a picture of me sitting on my mom's old Big Bird chair. I continue to enjoy my "girly" ways: here I am putting on make up! Below are 2 slideshows. The first is from my first visit to the St. Louis Zoo. I had my first carousel ride, enjoyed an ice cream cone and saw a lot of animals! The second is from our visit with Aunt Jen and Uncle Dave. I got to meet their nephews: Griffin and Dylan. We had a great time!
